Dear SJC Family and Friends, we hope this note finds you and yours healthy and safe. Like many of you, we too are wondering if we’ll be able to have SJC this summer. Like everyone else, we’ve been watching the news, hopeful for signs that things will soon return to normal.
We’ve been discussing how to best move forward this year with the leadership at Camp Westminster. At this time, there is still too much uncertainty to make a decision. The earliest we may have some clarity will be in May. First among all concerns is the health and safety of campers and staff. Developing information and circumstances surrounding COVID-19 will determine which guidelines from the American Camping Association (ACA) that Camp Westminster and SJC will adhere to. Until then, we’re in a holding pattern as summer gets closer.
We know that you are trying to plan your summer. If it turns out that we’re unable to hold SJC 2020, we plan to refund all registrations. We hope to hold SJC 2020, or perhaps some version of it in August. Once we have definitive information we’ll be in touch.
Meanwhile,
- Please find a link to SJC alum, Kyle Chang’s wonderful performance “Summer Camp” presented in FEB at the KoreanAmericanStory.org’s LA Story Slam. If you haven’t seen it already, please view and share in some camp spirit.
- Please join us in giving special recognition and thanks to all healthcare and essential workers keeping us safe during this difficult time. These heroes include SJC alum Christine Cha, an ER nurse in NYC, Mari Nowkci who is also a nurse (and has served as our camp medical officer), Julia Kim, an EMT, and Kami Chung, who will begin her nursing career in a few weeks. If we missed anyone else in the SJC family please accept our apologies and heartfelt thanks.
Finally, please protect yourself and others, stay well and safe.
